Toyko Olympic Games

9th Aug 2021

XXXII Olympiad - Tokyo 2020 (21).

The belated Tokyo Olympics are in full swing and set to continue through until the 8th of August. Many riders come to the games straight off the back of the Tour de France while others have trained for nothing else over the last few years. Both the road races and individual time trials have lived up to expectation - the excitement, the drama and the glory.

Four years of gold.

Richard Carapaz captured the heart of Ecuadorian fans by winning Gold in the men's road race. It was a gutsy ride from the INEOS climber who responded with military precision to a late move by the USA's Brandon McNulty. The duo held their own over a select group of favourites only for Carapaz to attack his breakaway companion in the closing kilometers. It was a pivotal moment - a new Olympic champion crowned.

Richard Carapaz's Pinarello Dogma F

Italian manufacturer Pinarello produced a limited run of rim brake 'Plutonium Flash' Dogma F's for sponsored athletes competing in the Olympic games. Adorning these exclusive machines is a Japanese flag at the seatpost/stay junction and the home flag of the rider at the fork crown.

  • Frameset - NEW Pinarello Dogma F Torayca 1100 'dream carbon' - 'Plutonium Flash' - Japan/Ecuador
  • Groupset - Shimano Dura Ace 9150 Di2
  • Wheelset - Carbonsports Lightweight Meilenstein tubular
  • Handlebars - NEW MOST Talon Ultra Fast integrated

History was written for Carapaz and Ecaudor on the new Pinarello Dogma F.

Richard Carapaz puts McNulty to the sword with 5.8kms left to race. The American only went backwards from here. He'd finish the day just outside the medals in 6th.

Something special in the making... Pinarello are busy preparing the new Olympic champion's unique colour-way. We anticipate this being available to the public in the not too distant future.
Rim braking systems still prove their worth at the pointy end of professional racing. Their low weight, ease of maintenance and practicality make them as successful as ever.
